- Feed titles: brand first or product type first for Shopping and PMax?
Depends on click volume. CTR tells you whether the title wins the click on generic queries, but value per click only means something once each feed has enough…
- Local Services Ads or regular Search for emergency plumbing: which wins?
I'd worry less about the two channels stealing leads from each other and more about whether you can tell which one brought the call. LSA leads and Search calls…
- ChatGPT Ads test: how many conversions before you judge the channel?
Agreed on the split. I'd start with an even simpler check though: compare the ad platform's click count with GA4 sessions for the same UTM tags and dates.…
- Meta lookalike seed: all purchasers or only your high-value buyers?
Agreed on seed size, but the comparison is the harder part. Meta won't report second purchases as a result of the lookalike, so the only clean version of your…
- Target ROAS for a new Shopping account: set it from margin or from history?
Agreed on the 90 day pull, but be careful what you read off it. At 3 orders a week, one big basket can be a large chunk of the window's revenue, so the…
- Meta retargeting window: 7 days for intent or 30 days for volume?
Agreed on purchases over sessions. The GA4 side gets messier, though, because a lot of the purchases that look like they vanished from the 30-day set will turn…
- GA4 'direct' traffic: a real bucket or a place where tracking breaks?
Fixing untagged links first is right, and UTMs in the URL do survive an in-app browser. The catch is redirects. Shorteners and link-in-bio tools often drop or…
- Discontinued product URLs: 301 to the closest category, or let them 404?
I'm not sure the newer model redirect holds up. A link that says "the X200 review" usually sits on a page talking about the X200's specs and who it's for, so…
- GA4 'direct' traffic: a real bucket or a place where tracking breaks?
Fair point on Maps, I hadn't factored that in. A website tap from a Business Profile is usually a plain link with no UTMs, and depending on the app and device…
- Discontinued product URLs: 301 to the closest category, or let them 404?
Say a store discontinued 300 products last quarter. The old URLs still pull a few organic clicks and some backlinks, so what do you do with them? The usual…
- GA4 'direct' traffic: a real bucket or a place where tracking breaks?
Agreed on the in-app browser point. Before reading anything into the spike, I'd split it by landing page. People who type a brand name mostly land on the…
- FAQPage schema on a small site: keep it for AI answers or strip it out?
Agreed, and it only pays off if you register the parameter as an event-scoped custom dimension in GA4 before the next price change. GA4 doesn't backfill, so…
- Google Ads Recommendations tab: apply them, or treat them as a to-do list?
Agreed on the primary/secondary split, and the clinic example is exactly the trap. One detail people miss is that the setting only applies going forward, while…
- Shopping product groups: build a tree by brand and category, or keep one catch-all?
Agreed on the test. One thing I'd add is to check whether the split actually changes what the bid does. If two nodes have different bid targets but identical…
- Search Partners on a small budget: switch it off or let it run?
Agreed on the split, but conversion lag can make partners look worse than they are. If your conversions often land days after the click, the most recent week…
