Say a landing page shows 1,200 clicks in Search Console last month but only 850 organic sessions in GA4. Both numbers are right, they just count different things. GSC counts clicks off the results page. GA4 only counts a session if the tag actually fired, so consent banners, ad blockers and redirects all widen the gap.
My rule is to use GSC for SEO decisions like which queries and pages are earning visibility, and GA4 for what happens after the click, like engagement and conversions. The mistake is putting both on one client chart labeled "organic traffic" and then getting asked why they don't match. How do you explain the gap to someone who only looks at one number?
